Four words… Possibility, Prospect, Option, Maybe…What do you feel as you read these words? Are you hopeful, scared or wary as you think of these words in relation to where you are in your life journey at the moment? I thought of these words when I recently came across this bit of wisdom from Khalil Gibran:

” Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life, not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.”

How do you deal with adversity and equally important, how do you deal with good fortune? We can be disbelieving and suspicious of both good and bad happening in our lives. “How could this happen to me?” “It’s too good to be true.” ” I don’t deserve this”… Do any of these sound and feel familiar to you?

What might happen if you entertain the thoughts of Possibility, Prospect, Option, Maybe…? Could it change your approach to how you deal with your situation? Perhaps in the process of going through a painful divorce, you might see the possibility of a healthier future for yourself. If it is a new job or career that you are looking for, entertaining thoughts of what the  Prospects, or Options might be, may motivate you to keep looking. Keeping the thought of  Maybe in your heart and mind could open up the glimmer of hope for your new direction, whatever life transition you find yourself in.

At the beginning of this new year, take these words with you into 2014. Possibility, Prospect, Option, Maybe… What do they have to teach you about how to live your life? In adversity or good fortune, may you nurture your abilities to embrace Possibility, Prospect, Option and Maybe…
